Fleas can be transported in many different ways.
The most common way is from a yard to the inside of your home via opening and closing of doors, riding in on your clothing, brought in by a repair/maintenance/housekeeper/children/etc., brought in by means of boxes/bags from retail stores or other business establishments, a cat allowed on a screen enclosure, or placing a cat in a carrier that has been stored in a garage or storage room.
Thus, all cats boarding at Kitty City must show proof of a current prescription flea treatment that has been administered within 21 days prior to boarding. If your cat will be due for the flea application while boarding, please bring the treatment with you. We will apply it at no charge.
If a timely flea treatment has not been administered to your cat, we will be happy to call your veterinarian and obtain their orders for the type preferred and we will administer it, however, there will be a fee involved for this process and the cost of the flea treatment will be added to your invoice. If we are unsuccessful in getting a prompt response from your veterinarian, we will consult one of our "on call" veterinarians and apply the treatment they recommend. Again, there will be a fee involved for this process.
Due to allergic reactions and or other dangerous complications if the wrong treatment is given, we must communicate with your vet regarding flea treatment.
Our Flea Treatment policy is to protect your cat from bringing fleas into your home with them from Kitty City as well as to protect other cats boarding here and our staff from fleas.
The ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS POLICY WILL BE A LETTER OF EXEMPTION FROM A LICENSED VETERINARIAN BECAUSE OF MEDICAL REASONS. Being an "indoor only cat" is not a reason for exemption
